Cover Letter:

Respected Sir,

I am writing to express my interest in joining Maithili Lifesciences. With a profound passion for chemistry and a strong commitment to sustainability, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of sustainable practices in the field of chemistry. Currently, I am doing a 1-year project work program at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, India, and will be awarded my degree this summer. My academic journey has provided me with a solid foundation in sustainable chemistry, including green synthesis, renewable energy, and environmental remediation. My research interests in organic synthesis align well with the Requirement of this Project. I am pursuing my project work on IISER Kolkata and I have gained valuable research experience and practical skills in organic reactions, chromatography, and various chemical characterization methods. My thesis focused on “Total Synthesis of anticancer Abieotane Diterpenoids Royleanone & Inuroyleanol using Lewis acid catalyst,” where I synthesized the natural product using a variety of Lewis acids. I have optimized the reaction conditions in large scale. I got my recent publication on this work. During my previous project work, I completed a full-semester internship in the lab of Dr. Sudipta Roy, in IISER Tirupati, where I focused on the computational analysis of cAAAC→BCl3 adduct using DFT, geometry optimization, NBO-analysis, and QTAIM-analysis. These experiences honed my skills in computational and theoretical methods, enabling me to study the electronic structure of molecules and materials. Additionally, I interned in Dr. Kiran Kumar’s lab, where I explored the synthesis and functionalization of natural products and organic compounds. My project on the intramolecular Michael Ene reaction of 1,7-diene to form a cyclohexane derivative highlighted my ability to conduct complex chemical reactions and contributed to my interest in sustainable chemistry. I am particularly drawn to this opportunity because of its renowned faculty, state-of-the-art research facilities, and commitment to advancing Emerging field of photocatalysis & its real-world application in the pharmaceutical industry & sustainable chemistry. I am eager to contribute to ongoing research projects and collaborate with experts in the field. Along with Chemistry, my interdisciplinary coursework in biology and food chemistry makes me well-suited for multidisciplinary research in sustainability. I am confident that pursuing a PhD will provide me with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to Contribute positively to your ongoing research projects which aim at innovative research & Improve Quality of Life. I am excited about the prospect of joining your esteemed program and furthering my academic and research career in Organic Synthesis, Catalysis & its applications. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to interact with you & discuss my qualifications in more detail.

Your Sincerely,
Saikat Bag
