Cover Letter:
I’m contacting you about the bioinformatician post.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology Engineering from Mumbai University and a Master’s in Computational Biology from Anna University, Chennai.
During my academic journey, I have gained proficiency in Linux and have become familiar with NGS techniques and terminology. I am comfortable with Python and eager to develop my skills further. My experience includes assisting in NGS data analysis, supporting bioinformatics pipeline development for variant calling and data visualization, and collaborating with scientists to interpret genomic data. Additionally, I have maintained and troubleshooted Linux-based systems, engaging in problem-solving and workflow optimization. I have dabbled in Machine Learning Programming and know the various algorithms used for classification and prediction such as Decision Tree, Bayes, and SVM.
During my internship at Haystack Analytics, I gained hands-on experience in NGS analysis, Linux, bash scripting, and pipeline development using tools like BWA, ANNOVAR, BCFtools, GATK, and SAMtools. I developed a reference-based NGS automated pipeline for mapping, variant calling, and detecting resistance-mediating and phylogenetic variants from Illumina whole genome sequence data of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex isolates from patient sputum-derived DNA samples. I have obtained certifications in Machine Learning for Biological Data from (Johns Hopkins University), Data Analysis in R (Google), and SQL using Python (IBM).
My educational background and the skills I have gained so far will be of utmost help professionally and I am always eager to learn more.
