    Dear HR,
I hold an integrated BS-MS dual degree in Life Sciences with a minor in Physics from IISER Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Being part of a multidisciplinary research institution allowed me to explore diverse aspects of basic sciences, and my fascination with genetics, developmental biology, stem cells, and regenerative biology has driven my passion for scientific inquiry. The interdisciplinary nature of life sciences, especially how living systems adhere to the laws of physics, influenced my decision to minor in physics.
I’m thrilled to apply for the Analyst role. This position feels like the perfect fit for me, as it would allow me to use my analytical skills, problem-solving mindset, and love for turning data into meaningful insights to tackle impactful projects across various industries. The chance to work with global teams, dive into market research, and craft actionable recommendations really excites me—it aligns so well with my passion for strategic analysis and my desire to keep learning in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. What really stands out to me is its dedication to top-notch training and the opportunity to explore diverse industries. I see this role as an incredible stepping stone for my career growth. I’m confident in my ability to work with complex data, uncover insights that drive decisions, and present those findings in a clear and compelling way—skills I believe would allow me to make a real contribution to your teams. Beyond that, I’m drawn to the company’s collaborative and innovative culture. It’s exactly the kind of environment I’ve been looking for—one where I can grow, contribute meaningfully, and be part of a globally connected team. Briefly going through my previous projects,
In a recent role at a Biophysical lab, our focus was on understanding cellular growth dynamics in Arabidopsis thaliana hypocotyls. The aim was to explore how physical parameters influence growth over time, particularly the role of stress and strain on cellular elasticity and tissue stiffness at an organ level. Using techniques ranging from PCR to micro-extensometers and advanced imaging tools like MorphoGraphX and confocal microscopy, we examined cell elongation patterns over seven days. My responsibilities included managing multiple projects, conducting regular meetings, and standardizing lab procedures for efficient project execution. Overall, this experience enhanced my skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication.
During my internship, I worked on two projects. The first focused on investigating arteriogenesis and collateral formation in neonates. My role involved standardizing Masson’s Trichrome staining to analyze scarring due to reduced collateral formation in a knockout mouse model. I also studied the spatial and temporal patterning of the chemokine ligand CXCL12 in brain pial collateral formation.
My responsibilities also involved managing multiple projects concurrently, attending one-on-one project meetings, and presenting data in lab meetings, departmental seminars, and outreach presentations.
Additionally, I helped set up the lab and standardize the molecular and mechanical tools necessary for running these projects.
    Yours sincerely,
    Bejoy Manoj

    Cover Letter:

    Dear Hiring Manager,
I, Dr. Khushbu Islam, Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in the Research Data Analyst position at IIT BHU. I am highly motivated for this role as it aligns with my experiences and skills in research data analysis and representation for publishing.
My doctoral research focused on investigating the role of MYB transcription factor genes in capsaicinoids (pungency) biosynthesis in _Capsicum_ species. This involved a multifaceted approach, including:
    – Genome-wide identification of _MYB_ genes in _Capsicum _through comparative genomics and bioinformatic tools.
    – Gene expression profiling of _MYB_ genes in three fruit developmental stages of low and high pungent _Capsicum_ species_ _using transcriptome sequencing, differential gene expression analysis, co-expression analysis and qRT-PCR.
    – Isolation of _MYB_ genes from high pungent _Capsicum chinense_ for cloning and overexpression, in low pungent _Capsicum annuum_ via Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation, tissue culture (shoot and root regeneration), transgenic development and screening.
    – GFP tagging of MYB transcription factor proteins, agroinfiltration in _Capsicum_ leaf epidermis and subcellular nuclear localisation using confocal microscopy.
    – Interspecific crossing of contrasting pungency containing chilli pepper species (_Capsicum annuum _and_ Capsicum chinense_) and development of F2 population
    – Phenotyping- Extraction and estimation of capsaicinoids- capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin in a large chilli pepper germplasm and F2 population using HPLC.
    – Genotyping- Identification, development and validation of molecular markers (SSRs, InDels and SNPs) in MYB gene and promoter sequences for marker-assisted selection of high pungency trait in large germplasm of chilli pepper varieties and F2 population.
    – Association analysis between phenotypic data and marker allele data using TASSEL.
Beyond my doctoral work, I have actively engaged in collaborative research projects, such as:
    – Isolation of pungency biosynthesis pathway genes- _Amt, Kas_ and _Pun_ genes from highly pungent _Capsicum chinense_ and transgene expression in cherry tomato using GATEWAY cloning.
    – Whole proteome analysis of fruit developmental stages of high and low pungent _Capsicum_ species using LCMS-MS to identify differently abundant proteins.
    – Biolistics transformation of onion peel for protein-protein interaction studies of MYB transcription factors with pungency biosynthesis pathway proteins- Pun, Amt and Kas using BiFC.
    – Metabolite analysis of eggplant under nematode _(Meloidogyne incognita) _stress and alleviation (biocontrol _Ganoderma lucidium_ macrofungi) conditions using GCMS.
    – Metabolite analyses of _Capsicum_- roots, leaves, stem, and fruits under mineral (Phosphate, Iron and Zinc) element starvation and abundance stress via GCMS.
    – Extraction and estimation of terpenoids (Phytosterols) in _Premna herbaceae _leaves and roots_ _via GCMS.
    – Extraction and estimation of carotenoid and anthocyanins pigments in pepper fruits using HPLC.
My recent postdoctoral research focused on integrating proteomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics to identify differentially abundant transcription factors involved in capsaicinoids biosynthesis in _Capsicum chinense_. This involved several methodologies such as:
    – Whole metabolite extraction from two fruit developmental stages of high and low pungent _Capsicum_ species and estimation and analysis via GCMS.
    – Correlation analysis between proteome, transcriptome and metabolome data to understand the complex capsaicinoid biosynthesis pathway in _Capsicum chinense_.
Further to advance in my professional career, I am eager to join the Research Data Analyst position at IIT BHU, as it aligns with my research data analysis experiences. I am highly open to learning opportunities and excited to upgrade to latest data analysis softwares and tools. I aim to earn an edge to my research career with this challenging role.
