the benefit of society. I tend to emphasise persistence and commitment in all of my endeavours.
Professional Background
Junior Research Officer Internship
Working as JRO in Skin Bank at National Burns Center
- Amnion processing and separation from donated placenta
- Skin harvesting from donated cadaveric patients
- Skin processing [hidden] Meshing, Preservation, and Shipping
Attended skin calls while working in shifts
Worked on a research project at the National Burns Center in Airoli investigated the genetic and protein-level
factors responsible for reduced pigmentation (hypopigmentation) observed in burn-related skin lesions.
The study utilized PCR and western blot analysis to identify potential transcriptional mechanisms underlying
diminished pigmentation.
Placement of melanocytes in both normal and hypopigmented skin samples was examined as part of research.

Cover Letter:
My name is Vaishnavi Menon, and I recently completed my Masters in Biotechnology with a strong focus on gaining more knowledge and enhancing my skills.
During my Master’s program, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with Dr. Prerna Chaudhary at the National Burns Centre in Airoli. My research focused on examining alterations in genes related to melanogenesis that result in hypopigmentation following burn injuries. The title for my project was “Elucidating the fate of melanogenesis genes involved in post burn Hypopigmentation”. This study provided me with valuable insights into molecular biology techniques and the intricacies of genetic regulation.
Throughout my academic journey, I have gained a solid foundation in basic biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology. I have hands-on experience with various laboratory techniques, such as DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, protein purification, and microbial culturing. My coursework has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of key concepts and principles in these fields, enabling me to confidently analyze experimental data and interpret results. In addition to my technical skills, I possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, which have been honed through my research projects and laboratory coursework. I am proficient in utilizing scientific databases and literature to gather relevant information, and I am skilled in conducting literature reviews and writing scientific reports.
My long-term objective is to attain independence as a researcher and establish myself as a recognized authority in my field. I am driven to contribute significantly to scientific knowledge, develop innovative methodologies, and tackle critical issues within my specific area of expertise.
