Project

Fragrance production by biotransformation using mixed culture. The transformation of d-limonene was done using a mixed culture of Pseudomonas putida and rhodococcus erythropolis which resulted in fragrant intermediates. Immobilization technique was used to achieve maximum product formation. Cells were immobilized on Siran SIKUG41. Growing cell assays for product formation and limonene toxicity assay were performed to study the effects of limonene on cell growth. Quantification was done using Gas Chromatography. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) was performed with free and immobilized cell beads.

I studied different subjects like Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Analytical techniques, Genetic Engineering, Stem cell regeneration, Biotherapeutics during my academic year. Along with that I have gained experience with various bioseperation techniques, including protein expression and purification and different biochemical assays. I also hold interest in Bioinformatics, and I am pursuing a course of Genomic data science on Coursera. It a combined course of 6 sub-courses by John Hopkins University. In that I am learning about the concepts and tools to understand, analyze and interpret data from next generation sequencing experiments. My coursework, combined with my laboratory experiences, has equipped me with a strong understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting common laboratory challenges.
